Quitch is a content-neutral, gamified mobile learning platform, which Dr Oates developed at Swinburne University for her first year accounting students. It was built to address certain student learning challenges that Dr Oates had identified, and had a hugely positive, measurable impact on her students’ engagement and performance. Since being spun off from the University in March 2016, Quitch has been taken up by universities in a number of countries across the world including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, UK, USA, and UAE. It has also moved outside the education sector and into industries like oil and gas, logistics and the pharmaceutical industry, where it is being used for compliance training and professional development.
Quitch has won many awards for its innovation, both nationally and internationally, including the American Accounting Association for Innovation Award, The Australian Financial Review Higher Education Technology Award, iAwards startup of the year (Victoria), and iAwards Mobility Innovation of the Year (Victoria).
